Do no plea guilty with hopes of getting a pardon

Criminal convictions are permanent. A criminal conviction will always be used against you one way or another. Although a prior misdemeanor theft can be used to enhance the class of a future theft if it is not more than 10 years old it can be used 30 years later to deny you a professional license. Convictions will make your ability to obtain good employment very difficulty. Currently in Maine the only way to “remove” a conviction is through a pardon. Very few people are granted a pardon. The pardon process is time consuming, expensive, and difficult.

If there is a way to avoid a criminal conviction – do it. Hire an experienced and qualified criminal defense attorney to represent you
